Hi all
I had a hell of a nightmare last night, it wasn't just for a few minutes, but kept coming back. I took Naproxen before I went to bed, I don't take them regularly, usually rely on tramadol, but wasn't feeling too good yesterday so took extra.
I wondered if it was caused by Naproxen, that's the only new drug I've taken recently. I know Amitriptyline can cause nightmares, and I take quite large dose each night, but it's never affected me in the past.
Can anyone tell me?

Sorry Lyn, can't help as I've never taken Naproxyn.
If things continue, it might be as well to have a word with your GP.
Take care

Hello Lyn, my dreams can be like that,I can wake up and then return to the dream and I can be trying to get away or trying to do something all night. I take Amitriptyline 50 mg and Naproxen on and off as well as the Tramadol. I will try to remember if this happens more when I take the Naproxen. Glenys.

Thanks for your replies.
Lyn - I'm not taking MTX. I purposely didn't take Naproxen last night, and all was fine.

I used to have amytryptalin and now have nortryptalin. I have got it down to 20mg as I cannot bear the dreams any higher.

I had a look at the blurb that came with Naproxen. It does mention hallucinations - which mine certainly was!

Hi Lyn - I'm on Naproxyn and have been having some dreadful nightmares recently - ones like you mention where you can't get out of them. I've even got out of bed and gone for a drink of water but still go back into the nightmare when I go back to sleep - I've never connected it before. I've been on max dose naprox since last November (with metho).

Hi Julie
Sorry you're having the nightmares too. It looks as if it's down to Naproxen. I don't know about you, but when I see my GP the week after next I shall mention it to him. Hopefully he can prescribe something similar. My only concern is over the waste of all the Naproxen tablets, but I can't carry on with them if they're causng me such trouble.

Hi Julie, I just had a look on the medicines site at work, and yes it definately did mention visual distrubances and hallucinations as some of the side effects.
I think you maybe need to go back to your doc as this doesnt sound like the medicine for you.
Hope you get things sorted soon.
